Ship caused oil spill in Kocaeli

A fine of 1.286.000,440 TL was imposed on the 'Poarada' which was anchored at Safiport in Kocaeli’s Derince district and was determined to have contaminated the Gulf of Izmit with hydraulic oil it leaked as a result of the explosion of a hose in the hydraulic system of the hatch cover on Sep 13, 2021. Teams that carried out inspections with the Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Sea Control aircraft determined that the hydraulic oil leaking from the ship polluted the Gulf of Izmit with the images they took from the air. After the detection, the teams that went to the port where the ship was located, surrounded the vessel with barriers and prevented the spread of the pollution. The municipality teams cleaned the oil layer on the water surface. As of Sep 15, the ship remained stationary in pos. 40° 44.46' N 029° 54.42' E at the Izmit Kocaeli Anchorage. Damage during cargo operations

During cargo discharge operation, the 'Porada' suffered structural failures in its cargo hold and pertinent equipment at Gebze on April 29, 2021. Repairs were carried out by stevedore duty teams upon completion of the discharge operations. The ship had arrived in port from Kherson. On May 1 at 11.35 p.m. it left the port, headed to Zonguldak with an ETA as of May 3.

Technical failure in Canakkale Strait

The 'Porada', while en route from Thessaloniki to Dnepropetrovsk, suffered a technical failure at the southern entrance of the Canakkale Strait on Dec 20 around 7 a.m. It proceeded to the southern Canakkale anchorage with own power and dropped anchor for repairs by the crew.
