Disabled vessel towed to Grimsby

Sat Aug 24 14:15:17 CEST 2019 Timsen

The 'Rachael S' suffered an engine failure in the morning in position 53 15 42.0 N, 000 46 22.7 E 15 miles east of Skegness within the Race Bank wind farm on Aug 22, 2019, at 2.15 a.m. The Skegness RNLI launched the station's Shannon class lifeboat 'Joel and April Grunnill'. The team from RNLI Humber was also paged by the UK Coastguard shortly before 4 a.m. to offer assistance to the vessel. Initially a tow was established by the guard vessel "Chieftain 7". Once on scene the lifeboat from Skegness established a tow with the casualty vessel and proceeded towards the north where they handed the tow over to the Humber Lifeboat, for the final leg of the journey to the port of Grimsby. The ship was safely berthed at the Fish Dock at 1 p.m. Report with photo: https://rnli.org/news-and-media/2019/august/22/rnli-lifeboats-from-skegness-and-humber-assist-vessel-in-early-morning-call
