Armed perpetrators stole ship's items
On Oct 1, 2025, at 3.15 a.m. the 'Rosa', owned by the Naviship Paraguay S.A., was boarded and robbed while navigating upstream on the Paraná River, at kilometer 340, off the city of San Nicolás, in Argentine territory. The vessel, carrying 2,628 tons of containerized cargo from Buenos Aires to Asunción, was intercepted by a group of unknown assailants. During a routine patrol, watchman Matías David Piñánez Servín observed several intruders on board. Upon being discovered, the intruders jumped into the water and escaped in a red and yellow boat that was moored to the ship on the starboard side. After a quick inspection, the crew confirmed that a motor pump and other minor items were missing. There were no injuries. The Argentine Naval Prefecture (PNA) in San Nicolás intervened immediately after the vessel reported the incident to the Traffic Control Center, Prefecture personnel patrolled the area, although no trace of the boat used by the perpetrators was found. An inspection was subsequently conducted aboard the 'Rosa', and a legal case was opened under the supervision of federal prosecutor Gustavo Parigini, who ordered statements to be taken from the crew.
