Drugs found in engine room
A cocaine haul worth 4 million Pounds was found on board the "Athens" which was bound for Britain. The 75 kilos of the class A drug were found inside three suitcases in an engine room. More than 20 crew members have been quizzed but state prosecutors said at this stage none have been arrested and there was no evidence at the moment linking them to the find. Sniffer dogs uncovered the drugs near Santa Marta around 400 miles north of the Colombian capital Bogota after a tip-off. It was preparing to load coal after arriving from Rotterdam. The local coastguard chief thought that the ship had been contaminated with the drugs while waiting at sea to enter port.
