Jack up rig towed to Dundee

Mon Oct 18 10:14:25 CEST 2021 Timsen

The 'Noble Hans Deul' has been towed into the Port of Dundee by three tugs and was safely moored on Oct 16 at 2 p.m. The jack-up had left its position on Oct 10 at 9 p.m., being towed by the 'Multratug 3' and 'Multratug 18'. The rig remained stationary as of Oct 22. During an investigation it turned out that a rescue ship had allided with a rig leg, weeks ahead of a the issue leading to work being ceased at the IOG North Sea field.

Rig had trouble with leg brace

Tue Oct 12 18:29:25 CEST 2021 Timsen

The 'Noble Hans Deul' with 66 people on board had an issue with a port leg brace which was not locking in position and was restricting its ability to maneuver in pos. 53 10 93N, 002 05 82E, 32 nautical miles from Cromer on Oct 10, 2021. The rig jacked the leg and recovered its anchors. The 'Njord Viking' recovered the anchors. The tugs 'Multratug 3' and 'Multratug 18' then pulled it to Dundee for repairs. It left the area at 9 p.m. The issue occurred after the rig arrived at the Southwark field, having recently completed a production well at the nearby Blythe platform. All 66 crew on board the rig went to muster and were safely accounted for. There was no damage to the rig hull or to the Southwark platform and no drilling operations were ongoing at the time.
