DOF gets AHTS work in New Zealand
Norway’s DOF has been awarded a contract with Shell Taranaki in New Zealand for 2012-built anchor handling tug supply vessel Skandi Emerald. The 60-day contract is scheduled to commence in January. Skandi Emerald is owned by DOF Deepwater, a joint venture between DOF and Aker Solutions.
Offshore vessel broke down
Taranaki's environmental watchdog was keeping an eye on the "Skandi Emerald" at Port Taranaki after being alerted to diesel fumes pouring from the vessel. A complaint was received on Dec 24, 2013, in the morning about the "Skandi Emerald", which had broken down because of a mechanical issue with its engine. The Port Taranaki harbour master John Ireland was not sure how long the ship would remain in port while repairs were carried out on its engine. The situation was under control and the fumes did not present a health and safety risk for port staff.
