Tanker disabled off Bosphorus
On the morning of Aug 25, 2024, the 'Sredina', en route from Novorossyisk, suffered an engine failure at the northern entrance of the Bosphorus. Coastal Safety deployed the tugs 'Kurtarma 7', 'Kurtarma 10' and 'Kurtarma 17'' to assist. Ship traffic in the Bosphorus was temporarily suspended in both directions. The tanker was taken in tow and safely moored at the Türkeli Anchorage Area during the afternoon under the coordination of the Istanbul Ship Traffic Services Center.
