Towed barge knocked down houses
On Feb 11, 2024, residents along the Batang Banyu Nagara Rive heard a loud bang as the barge 'Dewi Iriana 8', being towed by the 'Marina 21' , navigating into the Batang Banyu Nagara River channel en route to the Margasari River, was in collision withe another barge loaded with coal moved from the direction of the Margasari River. Drifting towards the riverbank, the 'Dewi Iriana 8' skammed into two homes belonging to residents of Murung Raya Village, knocking them down. Law enforcement authorities were investigating the collision. Representatives from the barge company have reached out to the affected residents to facilitate mediation and compensate for the incurred material losses.
