Barge allided with bridge in Groningen
On July 12, 2016, at 1.15 p.m. the "Tokaj 2", 1139 ts (EU-No.: 04403140), allided with the bridge of the Eastern lock in Groningen. As a result, only the bridge on the side of the Flora Quay remained accessible to motorized traffic. The other bridge remained completely open. Ship traffic could simply pass. How the accident could happen and the amount of damage was still unknown. Possibly the ship had a technical fault. The barge moored in Groningen at 1.30 p.m. The waterway was closed for inspections and repairs from 7 p.m. until midnight. Barge lost wheelhouse in allision
In Zutphen the Hungarian flagged, self propelled barge "Tokaj 2", 1138 ts (EU-No.: 04403140), coming from Millingen, allided with the Old Ijssel Bridge in the foremidday of Mar 5, 2016. The wheelhouse was torn off in the incident. The train traffic over the bridge was stopped for a short time for security reasons as a stanrdard prcedure. ProRail investigated the damage and found it to be small. The Bulgarian master was interrogated by the police.
