Travel Trident out of service until July

The "Trident V" that grounded while travelling between Guernsey and Herm on June 8 will be out of service until July. There was contact damage to the port side propeller and shaft. It was very foggy, it was near low water and the vessel obviously made contact with the seabed so it was pointing to some sort of navigation error. The captain along with the crew took all the right steps including getting the passengers in lifejackets, checking for water ingress and quickly alerting the Coastguard. While the hull had not been breached the spring tides meant the boat could not be returned to the water of Guernsey until next month. Ferry evacuated and towed to port

On June 8, 2016, the 20 passengers were taken off the "Trident V" operating between Guernsey and Herm and the boat was towed to safety following an unspecified incident. Some of those on board reported hearing a crash amid thick fog at 3.35 p.m. The passengers were transferred aboard the St. Peter Port lifeboat and the workboat "Sarnia". Repairs of collision damage completed

The "Trident V" which was damaged in a collision while travelling between Guernsey and Hermon Apr 22 has returned to service. The captain has been suspended and a report into what the ferry hit and the cause has yet to be released. The repairs included a new rudder and the replacement of two steel sections. The starboard propeller was also damaged in the collision and the gearbox was stripped out to check for damage.
