Sheerleg suffered water ingress

Mon Apr 16 09:48:55 CEST 2018 Timsen

On Apr 14, 2018, at 10.39 a.m. the "Eide Lift 8“ suffered water ingress in the engine room at the wharf in Høylandsbygd at Halsnøy. The sheerleg dropped two centimeters per 10 minutes and was threatened to sink when the fire rescue in Kvinnherad was alerted. The fire brigade attended with five engines and 15 men and managed to pump out enough water that the crane ship was stabilized at 12.30 p.m. and had raised half a meter at 1 p.m. Next the leakage had to be localized. It was found out that water had poured from two ballast water tanks at port side while they wer filled into tanks at the aft which were open to the engine room. GPS Atlas to raise collapsed gangway on the Thames

Tue Dec 20 09:07:19 CET 2011 Timsen

The London Tower Bridge was lifted at 10 a.m. on Dec 16, 2011, to allow the "GPS Atlas" to reach HMS "Belfast" which has been closed to the public since the scaffolding-covered brow collapsed into the Thames on Nov 29, The cruiser is owned by the Imperial War Museum which refused to comment on how long the closure might last. Since the incident they have been working with both the Port of London Authority and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) to ensure the collapsed gangway presented no immediate risk while we develop a full recovery plan. The recovery plan has now been developed and agreed with the HSE and Port of London Authority. Work to implement the plan is underway and as part of this the sheerleg was brought in on Dec 16 to remove the damaged section of the gangway from the river. The "Belfast", however, will remain closed until further notice.
