20 migrants rescued in Mediterranean
On Oct 30, 2023, the 'Trotamar III' rescued 20 migrants in the Southern Mediterranean from distress, among them 14 pople from Eritrea, four from Egypt and twom from the South Sudan. They had sailed from Libya end of the previous week, but suffered an engine failure and were disabled and adrift. A freighter went on stand by and gave shelter during the night, but the weather got adverse in the morning with wind force five and two meters wave height. The 'Trotamar III' took the cataways on board and informed the relevant authorities. The survivors were supplied with water and food as well as blankets and medical treatment. Already on Oct 29 the crew of the 'Trotamar III' had locted an unseaworthy boat with 40 people on board, who were equipped with life vests, water and food. Four people were recovered to lighten the boat. Only seven hours later the Libyan Coastguard arrived and took over the rescued people.
