Viking Sea had to skip call at Falmouth
On April 18, 2019, the "Viking Sea" which was due to dock in County Wharf in Falmouth at around 8 a.m., had to skip the call as 40-knot wind speeds were predicted. Nearly 30 tour coaches were booked to take visitors to attractions in Cornwall. They all had to be cancelled as the ship headed to Cherbourg instead.
Cruise ship returned to Barcelona due to engine trouble
The "Viking Sea" encountered engine trouble after having sailed from Barcelona on Dec 28, 2016, at 7 p.m. and had to interrupt her voyage, instead returning to Barcelona. She berthed at the Moll Adossat on Dec 29 at 11 p.m. Passengers were offered to stay on board until Jan 8, or catch flights home, meaning that the vessel would be stuck in port for several days, until repairs have been commpleted.
Fog changed itinerary
Due to dense fog in the lagoon of Venice, the "Viking Sea" was redirected to Trieste on Dec 13, 2016, to disembark the passengers who had competed the journey and to embark those who were commencing. The arrival at 3.30 p.m. created several problems because of the large amount of buses needed for the transportation of passengers and trucks with supplies to and from Venice. On Dec 14 at 2.50 a.m. the cruise ship continued to Venice after the visibility conditions there had improved.
