River cruise ship disabled by driftwood
On Apr 6, 2015, at 11.25 a.m. the "Viking Var" was disabled by driftwood running downstream on the Danube at Passau. The propeller was stopped when it got entangled in the propulsion when the ship was about to berth. The ship wen adrift and ran over a fairway buoy at the Ilzstadt Shore. The master was able to regain control with the bow thruster until the propeller was running again and able to berth the ship. The buoy was significantly damaged.
