Bulk carrier struck ship arrestor
The 'Wigeon' suffered a main engine malfunction and struck the lower ship arrestor of the Welland Canal's No 1 lock in Port Weller on Nov 13, 2021, at 2 p.m. The Welland Canal was closed for approximately eight hours while the ship arrest cable was repaired. No damage to the vessel nor pollution were reported. The ship left Port Weller after repairs at 3 p.m. and berthed in Montreal from Nov 14 to 16, before proceeding to Gibraltar with an ETA as of Nov 27.
Steering gear motor failure
The 'Wigeon' sufferd a failure of a steering gear motor in the St. Lawrence River, in position 48 18 40 N, 69 03 39 W, while the vessel was proceeding upstream towards the pilot station off Les Escoumins, Quebec, on Dec 1, 2020. The vessel, which was enroute from IJmuisen to Thunder Bay, was ordered to proceed to the Les Rasades anchorage for repairs. After their completion the ship resmued the voyage with an ETA as of Dec 9.
Engine trouble off Anticosti
The 'Wigeon' suffered a problem with its main engine and was disabled 64 miles SSE of Anticosti island on July 3, 2020. The crew carried out repairs, and the vessel resumed its voyage from Casablanca to Montreal, where it arrived on July 6 at 3 p.m.
