Tanker sanctioned by USA
On Nov 20, 2018, the Treasury Department of the USA announced sanctions on individuals, companies and 16 ships, among them the "Yaz", which were allegedly participating in an illicit Iranian-Russian scheme to smuggle oil to Syria. The scheme allegedly provides millions of barrels of oil to Syria’s Bashar al-Assad government in defiance of US sanctions.
Tanker investigated for violating EU regulations
The "Yaz" was investigated by Greek Authorities during her stay in port of Agio Theodori on Sep 2, 2016. The vessel was suspect having violated EU regulations with regards to restrictions imposed on some countries in view of situation in Syria( Regulation (EU). 36/2012). The tanker left the port the same day, bound for Aliaga.
