Discharge operations commenced
Inspections of the 'Clipper Como' were carried out by an attending surveyor panel together with Coastal Safety diver teams. Temporary repairs were performed by the salvage teams together with the divers who patched up the side shell plating area in order to minimise the water ingress in ballast tanks and cargo compartments. Upon completion of the temporary repairs, the port of discharge schedule changed to Nemrut Bay instead of Samsun due to safety reasons of vessel and marine traffic. The 'Clipper Como' heaved up anchor and was towed from Bozcaada Island anchorage to Nemrut Bay on Sep 25, where she berthed on Sep 26. After completion of custom formalities, the cargo handling and discharge operation commenced.
Bulk carrier stabilized
The 'Clipper Como' was no longer in danger of sinking on Sep 19. The ship has now been anchored. No one was injured in the collision, which left a large hole in the hull. The situation has now been stabilized, and the ship was back on even keel. The 'Levantes' was meanwhile appproaching Port Said with an ETA as of Sep 20.
Bulk carriers in collision off Boczaada
The 'Clipper Como', en route from Jorf Lasfar to Samsun with phosphate as cargo, was in collision with the Marshall Islands flagged bulk carrier 'Levantes' (IMO:9244829) in the night of Sep 17,, 2021, about 10 nautical miles off Bozcaada. The ship was breached at port side, started taking in water and was in danger of sniking. It was down by the bow and developed a list. No pollution was reported to date, no injuries either. The Çanakkale Ship Traffic Services,deployed the tugs 'Türkeli' and 'Kurtarma 13' as well as the lifeboat 'Kiyem 1' to assist. On Sep 18 at midday the ship was moored in pos. 39° 46.60' N 025° 58.89' E. The 'Levantes' was en route from Novorossyisk to Port Said with a cargo of wheat.
