Medevac off Skagen
On Sep 8, 2023, a person fell ill aboard the 'Costa Fascinosa', which had sailed from the Ostsee Quay in Kiel the day before, en route to Honningsvag, and needed to be medevaced in Danish waters. The Danish Defence deployed an SAR helicopter which hoisted the patient west of Skagen and transported him ashore for further medical treatment. The cruise ship berthed in Honningsvag on Sep 12.
Long range medevac off Heligoland
On Sep 24, 2022, the MRCC in Bremen was notified that a woman suddenly became seriously ill on the 'Costa Fascinosa'. At around noon, the captain of the cruise ship informed that a 78-year-old Norwegian woman complained of severe chest pain. She needed immediate medical attention. At that time, the ship was about 100 nautical miles northwest of Heligoland. Due to the great distance for the nearest kifeboat 'Hermann Marwede' of the DGzRS station Heligoland station and the urgency, the MRCC alerted a SAR helicopter of the German Navy which also took on a medical team from NHC Northern Helicopter. The Sea King was on site around 4 p.m. First, the emergency doctor and an emergency paramedic specially trained for helicopter operations were dropped off on the cruise ship. There they continued the treatment already initiated on board before the patient was winched up to the helicopter on a stretcher. The Sea King then flew the woman to a hospital.
27 more crew members disembarked in Santos
The 'Costa Fascinosa' has landed 27 more Italian crew members to return to their home country on May 7 and May 8 in Santos. The vessel arrived in port with 764 crew members on board on Mar 17 and has since disembarked 370 crew members.
