Fire in Halmstad
In the morning of Jan 22, 2015, at 7.30 a.m. a fire broke out on the "Dettifoss" in the Kattegat Port of Halmstad. The ship had arrived from Frederikstad only at 7 a.m. It was remarked when smoke emerged from the ship. Firemen localized the fire in a fuse box under the deck. Due to the small spaces it was complicated to extinguish the fire though it was not huge. At 10 a.m. the fire was extinguished. The fire was caused by an electrical fault.
Container loss off Iceland
20 containers, which were being transported by the "Dettifoss" to Iceland, went over board 85 nautical miles northwest of the Faroe Islands in the night of Dec 23, 2014, when the ship was hit by rogue waves. The "Dettifoss" was originally destined for Reyðarfjörður in the East Fjords but due to unfavorable weather conditions, it was decided to send the ship to Reykjavík instead. It arrived at the harbor at 8.45 p.m.
The "Dettifoss" is expected at Fredrikstad, coming from Rotterdam, on Feb 23, 2011, at 7 p.m. to receive lightered cargo of the casualty "Godafoss" after its grounding.Upload News
