Sun Apr 14 11:28:05 CEST 2019 Timsen

During the docking manoever of the "Lazurit" in the dry dock at the Kuzey Star shipyard in Tuzla, the dry dock was broken from the midsection and a dock crane fell onto the "Lazurit" which suffered a structural failure and was grounded in the dry dock on April 12, 2019. The incident location was declared a temporarily restricted zone until the completion of further inspections and investigations. The extent of damage was unknown at this stage. A more detailed damage survey will be carried out by the class surveyor together with the shipyard technical team upon completion of the vessel's re-floating, removal and shifting operation. Further repairs will be carried out by the shipyard technical team depending on the inspection result. A crane operator was injured due to the incident. No pollution was reported due to the incident. The vessel remained stationary in the dry dock. The other of the two ships in the dock was the "Seapower". The tanker took in water when the dock flooded, but the situation on board was brought under control. The other ship also took in water. The Tuzla Port Master, Tuzla Security Directorate, Coast Guard teams, Tuzla Fire Department and GİSAŞ officials attended on scene. The ship sailed from Tuzla on May 17, bound for Azov, where it arrived on May 22.
