Dockers and Trade Unionists stormed cargo ship
On Aug 1, 2018, the "Mercosul Suape", which was berthed at Santos, was stormed by dockers, headed by Trade Union activists.The Trade Union of Santos dockers declared a strike, being in process of wage negotiations with Union of Port Operators of San Paulo State. The police was called, and seven persons were detained. The ship left the port bound for Itaqui on Aug 2 at 7.50 a.m. The security level in the port of Santos was raised, as authorities were fearing more such acts during the three days of strike and protests.
