Detention in Muuga

Fri Oct 09 09:49:18 CEST 2020 Timsen

The 'Nord Santiago' was detained by the Estonian Maritime Authorities on request of an Estonian Seamen Trade Union inspector and ITF representative as the employment contracts of all 18 Filipino crew members were expired. The ship had berthed at Muuga on Oct 4, 2020, at 8.10 a.m. upon its arrival from Dakar, where it had sailed on Sep 14. The owner has been requested to carry out a crew change.

Grounding on Rio Grande

Mon May 20 11:20:06 CEST 2019 Timsen

The "Nord Santiago" ran aground on May 16, 2019, around 3 p.m. in the Lagoon Dos Patos, Rio Grande do Sul, three hours after departing from Porto Alegre, sailing in ballast, after veering off the fairway. The bulk carrier was stuck on muddy bottom with a slight to port until the morning of May 19. It was refloated with the help of two tugs at 10 a.m. and was anchored inside the lagoon. After inspections it resumed the voyage to Sao Francisco do Sul, ETA May 22.
