Ship has resumed voyage after fire
the 'Penguin Island' which had suffered a fire in hold No.1 in position 37 06 36 N, 41 18 36 W in the North Atlantic Ocean on May 21, has resumed the voyage to Alexandria after the fire has been extinguished. All crew members remained safely on board, and no injuries have been reported. All appropriate authorities have been informed. A full assessment of the vessel and its cargo will be carried out after the arrival in port.
Fire in North Atlantic
The 'Penguin Island' caught fire on May 21, 2022, at around 10 a.m. UTC in the North Atlantic about 600 nautical miles west of the Azores, en route from Convent to Gibraltar. The vessel turned north at around 10 a.m. and made starboard turn at 11.20 a.m., sailing in southeastern direction.
