Bottom touch and allision off St. Anthony
The 'Skogafoss' had a bottom touch and allided with the buoy KA2.2 while approaching the dock in St. Anthony in position 51 21 48.2 N, 55 34 32.3 W on Nov 12, 2020, at 11.17 a.m. in winds from western direction with a speed of 35 knots. The vessel manoeuvred out of the harbour following the incident. In the morning of Nov 13, a diver inspected the vessel and noted that a number of the controllable pitch propeller blades were damaged and oil was leaking from the stern area. The vessel went to the emergency anchorage. On Nov 17 at 6.35 p.m. it berthed in St. Anthony.
Ernst Russ adds feeder boxship
Germany’s Ernst Russ Group has acquired 2007-built 700 teu geared containership Skogafoss in cooperation with a strategic partner. The vessel was acquired from Briese Schiffahrts and has been operating on the North-Atlantic shipping routes. It will be delivered into a charter with the Iceland’s Eimskip. Ernst Russ says the deal will generate constant revenues from operations and develops its position as an asset and investment holding company for maritime investments.
