Fire in cargo hold

Thu Dec 31 18:19:59 CET 2015 Timsen

In the cargo hold of the "Wilson Sky" a fire broke out at the Oceanen Way in Amsterdam on Dec 31, 2015, around 9 a.m. The fire rescue was alerted and extinguished the fire with foam. To stop the smoldering of the cargo, a crane emptied the affected cargo hold. The ship was carrying a cargo of flour and was being unloaded at the time of the accident. It was caused by an overheated halogen lamp. The whole cargo from the vesselwas successfully unloaded at the cargo terminal, with losses of about 200 tonnes, damaged by the fire. The ship did not suffer sufficient damages during the fire, but was inspected about safety and seaworthiness by local authorities before returning to operations.
