Fujairah Terminals receives first vessel call following concession signing between Abu Dhabi Ports and the Port of Fujairah

Tue Aug 22 11:33:11 CEST 2017 arnekiel

The newly established Fujairah Terminals, under the management of Abu Dhabi Ports, welcomed its first container feeder vessel, the Dubai Alliance. This is the first ship to arrive at the terminal, which is wholly owned by Abu Dhabi Ports, the master developer, operator and manager of commercial and community ports within the emirate of Abu Dhabi, Fujairah Port and Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (KIZAD), following the signing of a concession agreement with the Port of Fujairah in June this year. Following the signing of the 35-year concession agreement with the Fujairah Port, that granted Abu Dhabi Ports exclusive rights to develop port infrastructure and undertake operations for containers, general cargo, RoRo and cruise ships, Fujairah Terminals was established and took over management of the terminals from Fujairah Port Authority from August 1.

Abu Dhabi Ports signs concession agreement to develop, manage and operate Fujairah Port

Mon Jun 26 10:00:36 CEST 2017 arnekiel

H.H Sheikh Hamad Bin Mohammad Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah, witnessed in his palace yesterday the signing of a 35 year concession agreement between Abu Dhabi Ports and the Port of Fujairah. As part of the agreement, the entities have announced the establishment of “Fujairah Terminals”, a new operational arm wholly owned by Abu Dhabi Ports. Through the establishment of ‘Fujairah Terminals’, the agreement will grant Abu Dhabi Ports the exclusivity to enhance existing infrastructure in addition to managing all Container, General Cargo, RoRo and Cruise Ships in the Port. It further extends this exclusivity throughout the emirate of Fujairah for Container business. The agreement also includes deepening of berths to enable the Port, which already serves clients and companies in the entire Gulf Region, Indian Ocean and Indian Subcontinent, to cater to larger vessels. Abu Dhabi Ports will be investing in the infrastructure of Fujairah Ports, further enhancing its capabilities. Development includes deepening of berths to -16.5 metres to allow bigger vessels to come to the Port of Fujairah, building an approximate 300,000 sqm yard of storage space, as well as an additional 1km quay to accommodate the expected growth in the number of ships arriving to the port, increasing shipping operations in the process. Port of Fujairah Eases Ban on Tankers Travelling to and from Qatari Ports

Tue Jun 13 10:57:30 CEST 2017 arnekiel

Source says the Port of Fujairah on June 12 eased restrictions on tankers travelling to or from Qatari ports a week after blanket ban was imposed, Platts reports. As Ship & Bunker reported last week, Qatariflagged vessels were banned at the ports of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Egypt, and Saudi Arabia after the Arab nations took a number of actions to cut ties with the country. Instead of a blanket ban, the Port of Fujairah will now decide "not to receive any Qatari flag vessel or owned by Qatari companies or Qatari individuals; not load/unload any cargo of Qatari origin in any port of water of UAE; not to allow ships to load any cargo of UAE origin to State of Qatar." However, it is noted that the ban still applies to the port's Abu Dhabi National Oil Co. (ADNOC)operated VLCC jetty. "If Qatar is listed on the manifest, then it doesn't matter if there is a third port between the UAE and Qatar. It will not be allowed to load," the source told Platts.
