Rudder damage in Corfu
The Port Authority of Corfu was informed in the morning of June 5, 2020, that during the berthing manoever of the 'Alkinoos' a malfunction of the port side rudder was remarked. A team of inspectors of the Port Authority went on board the ship and found the damage. The ship was banned from sailing until the repair of the damage and the presentation of a certificate of maintenance of class by the attending classification society.
Ferry detained after engine damage
The Port Authority of Corfu was informed in the midday hours of June 6, 2018, by the captain of the "Alkinoos", that during the pre-departure process of the ship to run its scheduled service from the port of Corfu to the port of Igoumenitsa, there was a noisy sound and a vibration in the port side main engine coupling. The ship thereupon was boarded by a team of inspectors of the Local Ship Inspection Corps of the Port Authority of Corfu who found the damage. The ferry was detained by the Port Authority of Corfu until the damages were rectified and the class maintenance certificate was issued by the attending classification society. The 41 passengers were taken to their destinations on the next scheduled sailing.
Ferry detained following roro ramp damage
In the afternoon of Dec 2, 2017, the "Alkinoos" suffered damage when a wire of the starboard side stern ramp broke when the ferry was about to leave the port of Ingoumetsia during the scheduled service to Corfu with 64 passengers on board. The roro ramp thus could not be pulled up and the ferry had to stay berthed. The passengers were forwarded to their destination by the company's other ships. The "Alkinoos" was detained until the damage was repaired and a class maintenance certificate by the attending classification society has been submitted. She berthed in the Kerkira-port of Corfu again on Dec 3 at 3.45 p.m. following repairs and certification of seaworthiness.
