The 'Arcadia', en route from Lisbon to Southampton, requested the medical evacuation of a 74-year-old British passenger with heart attack symptoms on Nov 17, 2023. The CCS Fisterra of Salvamento Marítimo mobilized the SAR hekicopter Helimer 402, which hoisted the patient and took him to the A Coruña airport for further transfer to the hospital.
Cruises cancelled due to lack of crew
Citing crew availability issues, P&O Cruises UK has cancelled seven cruises on the 'Arcadia', extending through a June 23, 2022, departure to the Norwegian fjords. The ship had just restarted service for the brand in late March, marking the company's return to full operations. The impact of Covid upon airlines and general disruption has necessitated the cancellations as it was needed to move crew from the 'Arcadia' to other ships in the fleet. The ship now returns to service on July 5 for a two-week journey to Iceland, sailing roundtrip from Southampton, England.
Man trespassed onto cruise ship
A man who allegedly trespassed onto the 'Arcadia' docked in Tyne has been charged by police. He was seen acting suspiciously at the port in North Shields before boarding on Oct 18, 2021. Shortly after 8.30 p.m. police officers received a report of the trespassing incident. The suspect was later found at the back of the vessel by the team of officers who had been tasked with locating him. The ship had arrived at the port of Tyne on Oct 16.
