Trawler capsized, crew safe

Thu Jun 24 11:37:07 CEST 2021 Timsen

The 'Bel Ombre II' capsized on June 22, 2021, at 8.50 a.m. off Glénan (Finistère). An SNSM lifeboat and a Dragon 29 helicopter which was on a training flight were deployed to the area southwest of the Glénan Islands when the ship's EPIRB was triggered. A French Navy Falcon 50 aircraft, which was in the area, diverted to scene as well as a custom's boat. At 9:15 a.m., the Falcon 50 spotted a lifeboat in which the fishermen had taken refuge. After the fishing vessel 'Coryphène, which present in the area, retrieved them on board in a state of hypothermia, they were hoisted by the Dragon 29 to be taken to Quimper hospital for a medical check-up.

Fishermen hauled up German bomb

Tue Jun 30 14:48:39 CEST 2020 Timsen

In the morning of June 29, 2020, the 'Bel Ombre II' hauled up a German bomb weighing around 500 kg off Concarneau around 8:30 a.m., while fishing in the southern Glénan. The two fishermen immediately contacted the CROSS Étel to find out what to do. The ship then set sail for the Soldiers sector, off Trégunc, where it was joined by five deminers from Brest, as well as the SNSM boat from Trévignon, the 'Ar Beg'. Then the crew had to cut the trawl and take out the bomb. The bomb was then blown up 500 meters away. By the beginning of the afternoon, the operation was finished, allowing the 'Bel Ombre II' to set sail agani. The crerw had to repair the damaged trawl and to be able to set out again on fishing on June 30.
