Fuel pump trouble off Ramsgate

The 'Bituma', en route from Purfleet to Rotterdam, suffered technical issues with its engine and stopped in position 51 27 26N, 001 47 53E, about 15,8 nautical miles from Ramsgate on Oct 12, 2021, at 7.30 p.m. Engineer checks diagnosed issues with the fuel pump. On Oct 13 at 7.40 p.m. the ship moored at Margate Anchorage. The crew was awaiting spare parts to finish temporary repairs which were to be brought from the Netherlands by an agent. As of Oct 14, the tanker remained stationary in pos. 51° 25.32' N 001° 25.70' E.

Engine failed twice

The 'Bituma' with 11 crew members on board and a cargo of 4340,7 tons bitumen suffered a defect with its main engine in position lat 50 11 56.0N, long 001 39 12.0W, on July 22, 2021, at 9.30 p.m. The crew rectified the issue, and the vessel was underway again at 9.50 p.m. On July 23 at 6.08 a.m. the engines stopped working once again in position 50 05.133N, 002 18.800W, approximately 10 nautical miles east of the Casquettes Traffic Separation Scheme . At 06.37 a.m. the issues had been resolved and the ship was under way once more with an ETA as of July 24.
