Oil spill during bunkering manoever in Kiel
The "Frontera" caused an oil spill in the Kiel Canal in the morning of Jan 18, 2018, during bunkering operations enroute from Gibraltar to Helsingborg at the Bominflot Quay in Kiel. About 2,000 loters diesel were spilt into the water. Oil booms were laid out around the ship by the fire brigade. The fuel escaped from a pipe on board the ship. During a check of the tank contents it was esstimated that in fact only 200 liters had been flowed into the water. The "Frontera" was released the same evening and an investigation launched against the crew for water pollution.
