Block Island to be decommissioned
The crew of the "Block Island" was scheduled to host a decommissioning ceremony on Mar 14, 2014, at 1 p.m. at the Coast Guard Base Fort Macon, Atlantic Beach.
Coast Guard rescues 5 from disabled fishing vessel 'Blue Fin' off Cape Hatteras
US Coast Guard crews rescued five individuals from a disabled vessel 12 miles off the coast of Cape Hatteras Wednesday. According to a news release, the crew of the 54-foot fishing vessel Blue Fin contacted the Coast Guard at approximately 7 a.m. after their ship became disabled and adrift. Coast Guard crews used the Cutter Block Island to assist the individuals and help tow the fishing boat to the Oregon Inlet.
