Coast Guard Tampa Bay units assist 10 people in 3 days

The Coast Guard Tampa Bay responded to multiple search and rescue cases in the region from March 18, 2022, until March 20. A Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater H-60 Jayhawk helicopter aircrew responded to a medevac while Coast Guard Station Cortez and the CG 'Diamondback' responded to two separate disabled vessels. The aircrew hoisted an ill 47-year-old man from a cruise ship 224 miles offshore of Tampa Bay and transferred him to Tampa General Hospital in stable condition on March 19. A 45 ft-boat of the Coast Guard Station Cortez towed a 21-foot disabled vessel with four people 57 miles offshore to the Coquina Beach boat ramp Saturday. The 'Diamondback' towed a 33-foot disabled vessel with two people 80 miles offshore to commercial salvage near Sarasota on March 20. The Coast Guard Station Sand Key and an Air Station Clearwater C-130 aircrew searched for three reported missing people 30 miles offshore Hudson, who were found safe by a good Samaritan on March 18. Coast Guard Cutter assisted yacht

The 'Diamondback' assisted 5 people on a disabled and adrift vessel 28 miles north of Cuba on Sep 17, 2021. Coast Guard District 7 command center received a 406MHZ EPIRB for the yacht “Family First” on Sep 15 and requested Air Marine support (AMO) who located the vessel and determined the nature of distress. The Diamondback towed and took the vessel within 30 miles of Key West where commercial salvage assumed the tow. The five crew members where on a voyage from Cancun, Mexico to deliver the vessel to the owner for further transfer to dry-dock in Fort Lauderdale. The Cutter towed the 51-foot vessel to commercial salvage near Key West, Florida where the crew met with the owner of the vessel. Coast Guard cutter conducted 100 mile tow

On Dec 7, 2020, the 'Diamondback' conducted a three-day towing evolution of a disabled 45-foot sailboat with three people on board located more than 100 miles offshore of the Florida Gulf Coast. The Coast Guard St. Petersburg received a VHF Channel 16 call on Dec 4 from the disabled sailboat operator that they lost use of the rudder. The 'Diamondback' arrived on scene on Dec 5 and towed the vessel utilizing a tow bridle and multiple sea anchors to maintain control and ensure safety. The 'Diamondback'transferred the sailboat to an awaiting commercial salvage vessel near John’s Pass, Florida for final transit into port on Dec 7.
