Medevac in Funchal
The ship ‘Costa Fortuna’ was forced to return to the port of Funchal in the evening of June 19, 2023, shortly after leaving the port, due to a medical emergency. The ‘Costa Fortuna’ had arrived in the morning with more than 2,000 people on board, among them 1,296 passengers and 891 crew members. Medevac off Cartagena
On May 24, 2023, the SAR boat 'Salvamar Draco' (MMSI:225993950) medevaced a passenger from the 'Costa Fortuna', which was en route from Funchal to Barcelona, off Cartagena. The CCS Cartagena was notified at 6:14 p.m. At 7:45 p.m., the SAR boat was alongside the ship. The passenger was transferred to the port, where an ambulance was waiting. Two medevacs off Las Palmas
On Nov 27, the 'Costa Fortuna' requested the medevac of a sick passenger and a companion eight nautical miles off Las Palmas short after the departure towards Recife. TheJMRCC of Salvamento Marítimo mobilized the SAR boat 'Salvamar Nunki' and an ambulance in port. Once the medevac was performed, the 'Costa Fortuna' requested the medevac of a crew member. The 'Salvamar Nunki' returned to the ship and took the man off too.
