Tug grounded in Brownsville
In the night of Feb 3, 2019, the "Fish Hawk" broke from its moorings at the Brownsville Marina and ran aground on a nearby sandbar bordering the Illahee Road in winds of up to 40 knots and choppy waves of three foot height. No one was on board the vessel of the Alaska Logistics LLC, when strong winds and turbulent waves ripped it from bull rails along the Brownsville Marina's breakwater. It had been secured with heavy duty ropes. The vessel's owners, marina staff and the Coast Guard Sector Puget Sound's Incident Management Division responded. The vessel drifted southwards and finally came to rest on the sandbar. There were no injuries and no resulting pollution from when it ran aground. The owners planned to refloat the vessel at high tide and assess potential damage.
