Repairs in Tuzla going on after technical failure
During the repairs of the 'Gulf Petroleum 4' in Tuzla, a technical failure of its carbon dioxide system, and gas leaked from pertinent connections on May 6, 2022. Four workers were poisoned and had to be taken to hospital. Meanwhile a detailed technical inspection was carried out by the class and state surveyors. Subsequently, renewal and repair works have been commenced to the entire carbon dioxide system as per class approved fire plan. Upon completion of the repairs, a leak test will be applied to all piping arrangements along with further connections. A new set of fire fighting certificates will be issued by the classification society and the flag state authority as per the test results. A new set of piping arrangements will be provided by the owners. The ship remained stationary in Tuzla as of June 24.
Explosion in Tuzla
While undergoing maintenance repairs at Tuzla, the 'Gulf Petroleum 4' suffered an explosion and a leak of carbon dioxide from one of cylinders, in the morning of May 6. 2022. Five or four people were poisoned by gas. At least four of them are crew members.

On July 12 the 'Gulf Petroleum 4' arrived at Tuzla anchorage and entered a shipyard upon completion of formalities. A detailed damage survey was carried out by the surveyor panel together with shipyard engineers and the owner's superintendent. Subsequently, permanent repairs have commenced by shore-based technical teams in regards to the class surveyor's further recommendations.
