Recycling has commenced
The 'Lev Soldatov' has entered an Aliaga scrap yard as of first week of May. The recycling process have commenced upon completion of environmental permission formalities on May 30. The vessel status had been changed from live to dead as of May 12.
Disabled ship under tow to breakers in Aliaga
The repair of the 'Lev Soldatov' was suspended due to an expensive repair budget. The ship was sold thereupon to a scrap yard. The Turkish tug 'Ayaz Bey' (IMO: 7531670) was contracted to tow the vessel from Tuzla to Aliaga. Towage commenced on April 14 at 5.45 p.m. with an ETA as of April 16 at 1 p.m.
Technical failure in Istanbul Strait
Upon entering the northern entrance of the Istanbul Strait enroute from Rostov-on-Don, the 'Lev Soldatov' suffered a technical failure on Nov 17, 2020. Temporary repairs were carried out by the crew. Subsequently the ship was granted a departure permission from the Büyükdere anchorage to the Tuzla shipyard area. The vessel resumed its strait tranist on Nov 28 at 7 p.m. and moored at Tuzla anchorage at 11 p.m. Upon completion of formalities, permanent repairs were commenced. After the repairs were completed by the end of February, the ship left the dock.
