700 kilos cocaine were hidden in container

Mon Aug 08 10:46:03 CEST 2022 Timsen

The Australian authorities have found 700 kilos of cocaine hidden in a container on board the 'Maersk Inverness' on July 21, 2022, with a street value of DKK 1.4 billion. After the discovery, the ship was allowed to continue its voyage towards Melbourne on July 22. The cocaine was packed in 28 bags of 25 kilos each. According to the ship's manifest, the container contained wood products. Before the 'Maersk Inverness' arrived in Sydney, where the cocaine was found, it had called at several ports in Central and South America. The Australian authorities are now trying to find the people who were supposed to receive the large consignment of cocaine in Sydney.

Container ship delayed after injury of worker

Mon Sep 24 12:10:09 CEST 2018 Timsen

A Port Otago worker sustained injuries when he was struck by a container being loaded onto the "Maersk Inverness" on Sep 23, 2018, about 11.30 a.m. He was then taken off the ship using a man-cage slung under a container crane, to a waiting ambulance. Although the man was able to walk, he was taken to Dunedin Hospital for a checkup, in case there were any internal injuries. The injuries were described as moderate. Loading of the "Maersk Inverness" was stopped following the accident, and resumed about 7 a.m. on Sep 24. The ship was due to depart about noon, once loading was completed, which meant it would be about 24 hours behind schedule. Maritime New Zealand investigating staff were sent to Port Chalmers. https://www.odt.co.nz/news/dunedin/worker-injured-during-loading-ship
