Ship disabled by fire
The 'MSC Don Giovanni', en route from Valencia to Montreal, was disabled due to a main engine scavenge fire in position 49 20 02 N, 64 02 08 W, about 31 nautical miles south southeast of Port Menier, on Jan 23, 2022, at 6.10 p.m. The crew was able to extinguish the fire. They carried out repairs, and the vessel continued its voyage the same day. No injuries were reported. On Jan 25 at 7.15 a.m. the vessel berthed at the Termont Maisonneuve Container Terminal.
Steering power loss in Bristol Channel
The 'MSC Don Giovanni', while en route from Portbury to Liverpool with 24 crew members on board, suffered a total steering power loss in position 51 21 21 N, 003 12 41 W, in the Bristol Channel on Nov 1, 2021. The vessel was carrying general cargo and mixed containers on board. The owner company was informed, and contact has been made with the technical department for guidance. As of Nov 3, the ship was moored near Cardiff in pos. 51° 21.17' N 003° 12.44' W.
Windlass control issue
The "MSC Don Giovanni", encpuntered a windlass control issue on the St. Lawrence River in position 46 00.92 N, 073 10.095 W, while approaching the anchorage off Sorel, Quebec, on Dec 17, 2018, at 7.20 p.m. The windlass control could not be repaired due to a lack of spare parts. The vessel was authorized to continue its voyage under the condition that it used tugs for berthing or un-berthing, and sailed from Montreal at 8.10 p.m. The ship arrived in Valencia on Dec 30.
