Seaman blames employer, vessel owner for injuries

Mon May 15 22:47:45 CEST 2017 arnekiel

HOUSTON — A Texas seaman is suing an employer and a vessel owner, alleging their negligence led to an explosion that injured the plaintiff. Mayo Culp Jr. filed a complaint April 21 in Harris County District Court against Baker Hughes Process and Pipeline Services LLC, Saipem America Inc. and Saipem SPA, alleging they failed to provide a safe place to work. According to the complaint, on Feb. 21, Culp, who was working under more than 7,000 feet of water, was severely injured when the piping on board the vessel Norman Maxiumus exploded. Culp says he suffered physical and mental pain, lost earnings and incurred medical expenses. The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to inspect, maintain and repair the vessel's equipment and failed to provide adequate training and supervision. Culp seeks trial by jury, damages of more than $1 million, maintenance and cure benefits and all other just and proper relief. He is represented by attorneys Kurt B. Arnold, Caj D. Boatright, Roland T. Christensen and Alison Baimbridge of Arnold & Itkin LLP in Houston. http://setexasrecord.com/stories/511113221-seaman-blames-employer-vessel-owner-for-injuries
