Container loss off Mumbai
The "MOL Cosmos" was caught in a storm off the Indian coast in the Arabian Sea on June 22, 2015. The ship lost 20 containers north of Mumbai while en route from Dammam to Singapore. Severel of the lost containers were reported to be still floating and drifting towards Indian shore. The vessel had suffered a mechanical problem and was disabled for some time. On June 23 at 8 p.m. it was proceeding in southern direction off the Indian coast at a reduced speed, halfway between Mumbai and Mangalore, and berthed in Colombo on June 26 for removal of several container stacks on the aft which had shifted to port side.
