Allision in Pigadion

On March 5, 2023, at midday the Port Authority of Karpathos was informed about an allision of the 'Prevelis' with the pier of Pigadion, Karpathos Prefecture. The ferry safely docked at the port of Pigadio, Karpathos, with 150 passengers, where during an inspection by a team of the relevant Port Authority, a cavity was found without the existence of a crack at the port side stern of the ship. The Port Authority initially banned the ferry from sailing. Upon the presentation of a certificate of seaworthiness and maintenance of class from the monitoring classification society, the vessel was allowed to sail to the ports of Kasos, Siteia, Heraklion, Anafi and Santorini, with 114 passengers on board with the final destination Piraeus.

Crew member injured on board

The Central Port Authority of Piraeus was informed on Jan 17, 2023, at noon by the Master of the 'Prevelis' about the injury of a 58-year-old crew member inside the ship, which was docked at the port of Piraeus. The victim was transferred to the Agios Panteleleimon hospital for medical treatment, where a fracture of the lower end of the shin waa diagnosed. A preliminary investigation was carried out by the Port Authority of Piraeus.

Crew member died on board

The Port Authority of Kasos was informed on Aug 28 at noon that a 51-year-old crew member of the 'Prevelis', which was en route to the port of Kasos, needed urgend medical attention. On board the ship, the attempts were made to resuscitate and provide first aid to the 51-year-old by a doctor who was among the passengers. After the ferry docked, the patient was transported by ambulance to the Kasu hospital, where his death was confirmed. The Port Authority of Kasos, which conducted the preliminary investigation, ordered an autopsy to be carried out at the Forensic Service of Crete.
