Stranded passengers spent night on board
More than 100 passengers spent the night of Feb 15, 2020, on board the 'Red Osprey' confined to port in Southampton as Storm Dennis lashed the coast. When the ferry to the Isle of Wight was cancelled on Feb 15, passengers were allowed on board by the captain to keep warm. Passengers were able to sleep on board and were given a free breakfast in the morning. The ferry was eventually able to depart for east Cowes in the morning of Feb 16. Red Funnels's cross-Solent vehicle ferries and passenger catamaran services were suspended as high winds and heavy rain swept in late on Feb 15.
Ferry delayed after pipe ruptured
The "Red Osprey" was left stranded in the Solent on Apr 1, 2015, when one of its pipes was damaged only one week after it was back on the water following a £2 million refit. Customers were today left waiting at the dock while engineers carried out a repair to the fractured pipe. There was a slight delay to the arrival of the 2 p.m. sailing from Southampton to East Cowes which arrived at 3.20 p.m. due to the pipe fracture. The "Red Osprey" arrived at East Cowes at 3.20 p.m. and left for Southampton at 3.45 p.m. No fuel was spilt and services were meanwhile running as normal again.News schreiben
