Cruise ship disabled by mooring rope
The 'Silver Wind' was disabled while alongside in Quebec City, on Oct 28, 2019. Its starboard side propeller was fouled by a mooring rope. It was freed by a diver and the vessel continued its voyage on Oct 29 at 9.15 a.m., headed to Montreal, where it arrived at 8.20 p.m.
Cruise ship skipped Galway due to storm
Bad weather blocked the "Silver Wind" from docking at Galway on Aug 16, 2019, with just under 300 passengers on board. The ship was unable to tender because of the poor weather. The ship sheltered and then headed to Londonderry where it berthed on Aug 17 at 10.50 a.m.
Royal Caribbean finalises acquisition of Silversea
Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. (RCL) has officially acquired a two-thirds stake in privately owned luxury and expedition cruise operator Silversea Cruises after receiving final approval from regulators. The acquisition, which was first revealed this June, has seen RCL purchase a 66.7% stake of Silversea for around US$2 billion based on an enterprise value of approximately US$2 billion. Silversea owner Manfredi Lefebvre D'Ovidio will retain the remaining 33.3% shares in Silversea and continue his role as the company’s executive chairman.News schreiben
