Medevac off Cap de Fer
A British passenger was medevaced from the 'Sky Princess', en route from Palermo to Cadíz, by the National Maritime Surveillance and Rescue Operations Center of the National Coast Guard Service of the Naval Forces Command on Oct 8, 2025. At 10:40 a.m. the ship requested an emergency medical evacuation, concerning a 77-year-old passenger who had become seriously ill. In coordination with the Regional Center for Surveillance and Rescue Operations at Sea/Jijel 5th RM, a medical evacuation was carried out by the SAR helicopter “AS-14” from the 560th SAR Helicopter Squadron, 35 nautical miles north of Cap de Fer/Skikda. The patient was transported to the hospital in El Hadjar/Annaba to receive the necessary medical care on a higher level. Burst water pipe caused major flooding
On April 8, at around 10:45 p.m., a burst pipe aboard the 'Sky Princess' caused massive flooding in several public areas of the upped deck. The leak triggered emergency measures and temporarily led to the evacuation of passengers from central sections of the cruise ship, which was completing its seven-day round trip from Southampton to Spain and France. Water from the burst pipe, which was connected to the Sky Pool, poured across several decks and flooded the popular Piazza atrium on decks five and six. The scene was described as being initially chaotic, but was quickly brought under control. passengers were reported to their muster stations while the crew attempted to contain the major water issue. Teams immediately shut off the water and began cleaning the areas. Evening entertainment in other areas was uninterrupted, and guests were able to resume use of the piazza on the morning of April 9.
Medevac off Cabo Silleiro
On March 26, 2025, the CCS of Salvamento Marítimo in Vigo has coordinated the medical evacuation of a British passenger with heart related health problems from the 'Sky Princess' which had departed Vigo en route to Funchal, about five nautical miles southwest of Cabo Silleiro. The Pesca 1 SAR helicopter of the Galician Coast Guard was mobilized for this task. The patient was safely hoisted and transported to the Álvaro Cunqueiro Hospital in Vigo.
