Engine trouble off Dover
On Jan 30, 2021, at 7.45 a.m. the 'Snoekgracht', en route from Savannah to Rauma with 16 crew members on board, suffered engine trouble and went adrift at a speed of 2.5 knots, in position 51 12 49 N, 001 48 45 E, about 18.6 miles from Dover. The vessel was carrying 12,400 tonnes of china clay as cargo. The Dover Coastguard coordinated the response as the vessel was inside the SAR zone of UK. The ship dropped anchor to stop the drift, while the damage was investigated. At 9.40 a.m. the repairs have been completed. The vessel heaved anchor and was continuing its voyage. The Dover Coastguard continued to monitor the vessel until it exited the Traffic Separation Scheme.
Ship disabled in Gulf of St. Lawrence
The "Snoekgracht", coming from Pointe Noire, was disabled on Aug 2, 2019, at 8.50 p.m. in the Gulf of St. Lawrence, in position 048 51 16.0N, 063 04 41.4W. After repairs were carried out by the crew, the vessel continued its voyage and arrived in its destination Baltimore on Aug 7 at 1.40 a.m.
Snoekgracht damaged in collision in Kiel Canal
On Aug 29, 2012, at 06:45 a.m. the Dutch cargo m/v "BBS Star" was in collision with the "Snoekgracht" in the Kiel Canal at the pilot station Rüsterbergen after having suffered rudder damage short after having departed from the port of Rendsbrg by yet unknown reasons. The ship came off course and ran into the eastbound "Snoekgracht" which was suffered damage at the bulwark. After an investigation in the lock Kiel-Holtenau, the "Snoekgracht" was allowed to continue its voyage from Bremen to St. Petersburg. The hull of the "BBS Star", however, was damaged on a length of 50 metres on port side. The ship suffered water ingress and had to interrupt its voyage to Avonmouth after having reached Brunsbüttel where the cargo of grain was to be unloaded for thorough surveys.
