Nuclear submarine had near miss with ferry
A nuclear submarine had a near miss with the "Superfast VII" headed from Belfast to Scotland in the Irish Sea on Nov 6, 2018, but the decision to start an investigation was declared only on Jan 21, 2019. An investigation has been launched into the previously unreported incident. The submarine was submerged at the depth needed to extend its periscope above the surface of the water. The Royal Navy would not confirm which of its 10 submarines was involved. They are all nuclear-powered but only four carry Trident nuclear missiles.
