Nine fishermen rescued from liferaft
The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) and the Pakistani Maritime Security Agency successfully rescued the nine crew members of the 'Taj Dhare Haram', which sank on Dec 26, 2024. The crew had abandoned the ship onto a small life raft, after issuing a distress signal. The sihp was detected by an ICG aircraft during its routine surveillance in the region. It was facing inclement weather and had flooded significantly. The ICG aircraft notified the authorities, including the ICG headquarters in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) in Mumbai, and their Pakistani counterpart, the MRCC Pakistan. The patrol vessel 'Shoor', which was the closest to the scene, was diverted to the vessel, which was in Pakistan’s SAR region, around 311 kilometers west of Porbandar. At around 4:00 p..m. IST, the castaways were located and taken aboard. Immediate medical care was provided to them, and they were taken to the Porbandar port, all in good health condition.
