Allision in Brake due to malfunctioning bow thruster
During the berthing manoever the "Tara" allided with the Sozth Pier in Brake in the evening of Dec 19, 2014. The unloaded ship intended to dock at the southern bunker Station when strong SW gust of upto six Beaufort pushed it off course. The master tried to reach the berth in a difficult angle which failed, so that the bow of the barge damaged the wooden pier. The manoever was complicated by the fact that the bow thruster was disabled, and the police ordered that this would have to be rectified before the ship was allowed to leave port. Due to the fact that the bow thruster was already malfunctioning since longer times and this was known to the Polish master, he had to deposit a safety fine of 225 Euro.
