Isadora opens St. Lawrence Seaway Season 2012
The first international ship of the year should arrive at the Port of Indiana-Burns Harbor on April 7 after the St. Lawrence Seaway officially opened for business Thursday, according to a release from the Ports of Indiana. The St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corp. celebrated the start of the season by presenting the annual top hat, which has been given since 1947 to the captain of the first ship of the year, to the Wilf Seymour/Alouette Spirit from McKeil Marine. Burns Harbor’s first ship, the MV Isadora, will come from the Netherlands.
